Before coming to Families First, Dr. Schlachter was Medical Director of the Women and Children’s Service Line at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, after first serving as Section Chief of Obstetrics at the hospital. He has also served as Medical Director of Obstetrics for the Wentworth Health Partners Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Prior to working in Dover, Dr. Schlachter worked for 28 years with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock System in Manchester/Bedford, New Hampshire. While there he held Department Chair positions with the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at both Elliot Hospital and Catholic Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degree at the Ohio State University and went on to receive his MD at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Schlachter completed his residency training at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati before moving to New Hampshire. Dr. Schlachter lives in Portsmouth with his wife of more than 40 years and enjoys staying in close contact with his two grown daughters.
